As a community-based orchestra, PCO has developed significant community partnerships that together provide rich and meaningful musical resources and personal connections. PCO and these valued partners are united in building cooperation, friendships, and shared-experiences within our diverse community.

Alliance of Black Orchestral Percussionists (ABOP)

PCO is thrilled to partner with the Alliance of Black Orchestral Percussionists (ABOP), a nonprofit that supports and mentors young and emerging Black symphonic percussionists.  Protégés from ABOP’s Mentorship Program perform with PCO during the season, providing them with valuable performance experience as well as the opportunity to audit rehearsals and seek guidance from PCO’s conductor and percussion colleagues.

To the delight of our audience, in March 2024, ABOP Protégé Torrance Buntyn, Jr. performed a percussion concerto with PCO — a significant milestone in Torrance’s professional training and a lively addition to PCO’s season program.
