On May 10th Annelle K. Gregory performed Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto in D. Below is Annelle’s remarks about performing with PCO:

“As the winner of the 2019 Pasadena Community Orchestra Young Artist Competition, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to perform with the orchestra and Maestro Pflueger on May 10. I performed Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto, which is seldom played due to its tricky rhythms and difficult passagework for both the soloist and orchestra. Ever since I first heard the piece many years ago, it had been my dream to someday play it with orchestra so I was absolutely thrilled when I learned that I had won! The orchestra members and Maestro Pflueger made me feel very welcome at our first rehearsal and it was clear that they had invested much effort into learning this work. Maestro Pflueger always did her utmost to make sure that the orchestra followed me and allowed me to interpret the piece exactly how I heard it. I was also grateful for the generous amount of time that was dedicated to the concerto at every rehearsal. Due to great marketing by PCO, we had a large audience at the concert and as my passion is introducing rare Russian works back into the literature, it was a very memorable and fulfilling evening for me that would not have happened if not for this wonderful orchestra and experience!” ~ Annelle
