DESCRIPTION:The Orchestra’s 42nd season continues on Friday\, March 14 at the beautiful First Church of the Nazarene of Pasadena. Our concerts are always free admission\, and there is plenty of free parking. Pre-Concert discussion at 7:15pm; Concert begins at 8:00pm. We are excited to present a performance by the Junior Division Winner of our 2024-25 Young Artist Competition\, Minji Choi. \nJulia Perry         A Short Piece for Orchestra\nJean Sibelius       Violin Concerto in D minor (first movement)\n                     Minji Choi\, violin (2024-25 Winner\, Junior Division)\nAntonin Dvorak      Symphony No. 8 \nJulia Perry (1924-1979) pictured above\, was a American classical composer and teacher who combined European classical and neo-classical training with her African-American heritage. Trained at the Juilliard School\, her compositions include three operas\, 14 choral works\, 12 symphonies\, many vocal works\, and several chamber works for eclectic instrumental combinations. \nWe’d like to know our audience better!  How do you learn about PCO concerts\, did you travel far\, what did you enjoy\, and how can we improve?  At each concert\, look for a QR code that takes you to a quick 5-minute survey.  We’ll enter you in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate.  We hope to hear from you! \nThe season continues on these dates: \n\nMay 9\, 2025\, 8:00pm; Pre-Concert discussion at 7:15pm\nFeaturing the Open Division Winner of our  2024-25 Young Artist Competition\, Romain Jansen\nJune 7\, 2025\, 6:30pm\, Concert in the Park\n\nVideo recordings of works from many of our past concerts are available on our YouTube channel.
