Pasadena Community Orchestra - A Continuing Heritage of Fine Music

2011 OTTO AND MARIANNE WOLMAN SENIOR AWARD RECIPIENT

Charles Weymann started playing violin at age 6 and has played on his current violin since age 12. With some reticence, Charles decided to put the violin aside when he pursued a career in professional baseball, playing in the Farm System of the New York Giants and for the Navy.

He received a PhD in Political Science at the University of Southern California and spent his career teaching in high school and at Los Angeles Valley College. Upon retirement from teaching, he was inspired to resume playing the violin, and joined the Pasadena Community Orchestra in the fall of 1999.

Charles has been a loyal member of the orchestra for 13 seasons, with practically perfect attendance, before deciding to retire from the orchestra at the end of the 2011 season. He and his wife, Janet, have been an immeasurable asset to the orchestra over the years, including graciously volunteering their home in La Canada for various orchestra functions.

Charles is a warm and wonderful person who has contributed to the Pasadena Community Orchestra in so many significant ways. As such, it is a great honor for us to recognize him with the 2011 PCO Annual Senior Award.
